Summer Moon in a Winter Sky ~ Sammy Bissonnette **WORK IN PROGRESS**

Dear moon, why do you glow that shade of gentle gold?

You are far too warm for the icy clouds that push at your field of light.

You belong in an August sky, with the summer wind feeding your fire and breathing heat across the land.

The clouds pass over you like blackened cotton, and still you do not relinquish your place in the sky.

The world is black and shivering but for the humming warmth you spill onto the desolate canvas around you.

Yet you assure your place there, golden moon, with a confidence in fire; releasing the summer heat from the locked treasure boxes in the hearts of us your convent of awe-struck wanderers.

You do not belong in the winter sky, dearest summer moon, but we shall stand in hushed admiration, soaking ourselves in the summer remembrances you eminate and thanking you in whispers for your defiant rebellian to nature’s laws.
