What do you think about keats' ode on a grecian urn? I hate to be so vague because you obviously have quite a few ideas, but what's one thing that really stands out in your experience of reading it?-Anonymous
Oh wow, that’s a fantastic question! Thank you, anon! Hmm, I think I’d have to say that what strikes me most about that particular poem is its paradoxical nature. I absolutely love how he juxtaposes certain images. I’ve written several essays on this particular poem and I’m always struck by the lovely vocabulary used to create those paradox images like “cold pastoral” and “spirit ditties of no tone”…I also love the classical tone in this poem…how he makes history seem so vibrant and ideal with the references to the pastoral. And this poem is a perfect example of his ‘negative capability’ theory (which I could explain in more detail if you’re curious). Oh gosh, there are so many things I could talk about with this poem!! Thanks for the question! I love talking about poetry :) So feel free to ask me more! And you don’t need to be anon to ask me awesome questions like this :P I’d love to know who you are and chat more about things like this!! Have a lovely day, my anonymous Keats friend! :)
