Was just reminiscing about my geeky childhood playing computer games with my dad and wishing we still had oldschool Windows 98 so we could play them :P

Decided to search this song on a whim & am now tearing up because it brought back so many precious childhood memories. My grandma used to sing this to me when I couldn’t fall asleep <3
YES. I did in fact just stay up till midnight watching Katie and Orbie.
And I do not regret it one little bit! Every member of my family walked by within that half hour, had to stop, look at the television, then back at me, and ask if I was seriously watching that. YES DAMNIT! I LOVE KATIE AND ORBIE! SO SUE ME! I almost cried watching it too…it’s so simple and wonderful and the messages are so gold and genuine. This show is my childhood. The voices, the music, the narrator, the colours are all a part of me. Watching it tonight actually transported me back to those easy days. It’s really amazing how such little things can extract your senses and place them in a forgotten memory. So yes. Now it is 12:30 and I am still awake when I’ve got class at 8am and should really be sleeping. So goodnight dear tumblr folk <3 Sleep sweet! And if you get the chance, do something like this…watch a show, read a book, give that old teddy bear that’s gathering dust a big hug. Let yourself be a kid again and don’t ever lose what the pressures and stresses of this crazy grown-up world has made you forget. Keep smiling you beautiful people :)

Through Innocent Eyes
This is me & my baby cousins many many years ago…now half of them are taller than me and in highschool and the two smaller ones are ten and growing up faster than I want them to :( I miss the days when we were all so little and all that mattered was who beat who in Donkey Kong and who was old enough to use a glass cup at family dinners. When forts made out of branches and leaves were castles in our eyes and we dared eachother to hide in grandma & grandpa’s big scary closet to escape the monsters around the corner. When everyone gobbled their food as fast as they could on Christmas to make present time come faster and grandma would pass around carved out mini pumpkins full of orange jello and whipped cream on Halloween. Soon everyone will be grown up and with their own families on holidays. But for now, I hope I can just treasure every moment we have when we’re all together. We’ve lost a few family members over the years and our gatherings have become calmer now that more of us are nearing adulthood. I hope I never lose these precious memories and pray that someday when we are all older we can look back and remember the video game battles, races to the Mulberry tree, the little ones saying grace before dinner, present time at Christmas and the sleepy lull after each big delicious meal that made everyone happy and tired and content. When we saw life through innocent eyes. And I pray we never forget how to look at life like that and treasure each fleeting moment. <3
